What Precautions Should Women Take during Pregnancy?

Pregnancy precautions

In a woman’s life, becoming pregnant is a crucial time. It means a delicate phase in a woman’s life, which involves huge changes in her body and mind. In this phase, there is a mix of many emotions like happiness, curiosity, nervousness, curiosity, love, and irritation. If proper care is taken during pregnancy, the health of both mother and child is maintained. So women need to take special care during pregnancy. During this period, along with her own health, a woman should pay special attention to the growth and health of the baby. Therefore, along with physical health, it is equally important to take care of the mental health of a woman.

Relax and Avoid Stress during Pregnancy:

Everyone feels anxious when they find out they are pregnant. Emotional changes during pregnancy can be overwhelming and affect the health of both mother and baby. This problem can increase especially during the early stages of pregnancy. Also, women with a history of mental health problems experience these effects more acutely during pregnancy and are at greater risk of ‘mood swings’. Pregnancy, childbirth, and the stress of taking on the responsibilities of parenting can destabilize things that were previously under control. So the main thing to take care of during pregnancy is to stay relaxed and avoid stress. Keep open communication with family members or spouses, and try to be happy with small interactions. Take some time out of your busy life and relax your body.

A healthy Diet is very important during Pregnancy:

Poor or irregular diet of a pregnant woman can lead to a low birth weight baby. A nutritious diet and a healthy mother also increase the chances of a healthy baby. It is considered good for the mother to gain around 10 to 16 kg during pregnancy. In order to gain weight, we need to consume an additional amount of nutritious food. Protein-rich foods and dairy products provide calcium in a nutritious, balanced diet. Also, starchy foods and plenty of fruits and vegetables should be included in the diet. This will supply the body with essential vitamins and fiber. Additionally, stay away from foods that are high in salt and sugar. Avoid undercooked meat and eggs, soft cheeses, raw fish, shellfish, and pasteurized milk.

Exercise:

During pregnancy, the mother is advised to do moderate exercise. Exercise helps strengthen the heart and blood vessels as well as muscles. Pregnant women can do exercises such as swimming, walking, jogging, and simple forms of aerobics during this period. Excessive body movement or strenuous sports should be avoided during pregnancy as this increases the risk of abdominal trauma. Scuba diving can cause birth defects in the fetus. Also, there is a possibility of diseases affecting the fetus. So it is advised not to scuba dive during pregnancy. Exercising helps in building confidence and also gives positive energy.

Smoking and Drinking:

Even if you are not a smoker yourself, you can feel the effects if you are in contact with or around someone who smokes. You may be exposed to other unfiltered cigarette smoke that may be more harmful than secondhand smoke. Both active and passive smoking during pregnancy can adversely affect your unborn baby.

Pregnant women should avoid going to places where there is a lot of smoking. Also, if your partner is a smoker, he should be asked to stop smoking, or if you are together, he should avoid it. Alcohol consumption during pregnancy is also dangerous. This can affect your unborn baby. When we drink, alcohol passes through the placenta to our growing fetus. Because alcohol has an early effect on the body of a fetus compared to an adult. A fetus’s blood alcohol level can last longer than its mother’s. This damage can be long-lasting and severe. This can cause problems in the mental growth of the baby and can also affect the heart. Try to avoid alcohol altogether.

Family, Social Support, and Encouragement:

A good interpersonal relationship between your partner and family members will give you freedom and motivation in this situation. Do not hesitate to ask your doubts to elders in the house i.e. grandmother, mother, aunt, aunt. Also, your partner will support you. So stay calm and happy during this time. Remember, you can be a great mother. So spend more time in communication with family members or spouses. Open up your experiences and thoughts during pregnancy by talking to your people. It will help you to stay motivated and it will also give you motivation. Always stay positive, listen to motivational things, and stay healthy during pregnancy.

Relationship:

Sometimes sexual intercourse can cause shock to the uterus and cause miscarriage. This risk is exceptionally high in the first three to four months. So at least during the pregnancy period, it is better to avoid intercourse. In general, it is better to avoid sexual intercourse during this period to avoid the risk of bleeding and infection (especially herpes, cyto-virus).

Warm Water:

Drink warm water during pregnancy. Drinking warm water detoxifies the body, reducing the effects of morning sickness and heartburn. Some of these problems are solved by drinking warm water. Drinking warm water cleans the stomach and also improves digestion. It also relieves the problem of constipation during pregnancy.
